In-Transit Permits

You can move an unregistered vehicle from one location to another inside Alberta, or to another Province. However, you must first provide proof of valid insurance and a description of the vehicle including the make, year and serial number. 

A permit can be issued for the following reasons and lengths of time:

1. Move from point A to point B – 7 days
2. Moving into or out of Alberta - 7 days
3. Inspection purposes –  7 days
4. Salvage vehicles – 24 hours
5. Mechanical servicing – 7 days
6. Demonstration for the purpose of selling – 7 days 
7. Towed vehicles – 7 days

This permit can be purchased in person at the registry office, or if you have a My Alberta account, can be purchased through the following links:

*Note: If you do not have a valid Alberta Driver's Licence you will also need to provide Canadian entitlement for this service. Examples: Canadian Birth Certificate, valid Canadian Passport, valid Permanent Resident card, Work/Study/Visitor Permit, etc.

Fee = $24.00 (incl GST)
