New Licence Plates
When you purchase a new or used vehicle you either need a new licence plate or you can transfer the plate from your previous vehicle. If you are transferring a plate click here for details.
To purchase a new plate you will require The following documents:
- Your valid driver's licence
- If you do not have an Alberta driver's licence you will also require proof of legal presence.
- Examples: Canadian Birth Certificate, valid Canadian Passport, valid Permanent Resident card, valid Work Permit, etc.
- If you do not have an Alberta driver's licence you will also require proof of legal presence.
- Bill of sale or lease agreement
- Proof of insurance
- NVIS (This is only for brand new vehicles)
Fee – varies depending on vehicle and use.
