Driver's Licence Renewals
Licence renewals can be processed anytime during regular business hours. It's recommended to always arrive prepared for a photo to be taken.
Anyone 75 years or older is required to submit a medical report. Medical reports are also required for holders of Class 1, 2 and 4 licences or for any class of licence with a condition code āCā (medical condition).
If the licence has been expired for less than 6 months you will also require a form of valid ID:
Example: Birth certificate, valid Passport, National Defence card, valid Secure Indian Status, etc.
If the licence has been expired for more than 6 months you will also require proof of Alberta address and Canadian residency.
Alberta Residency Proof - Dated within the last 90 days
Example: Lease agreement, mortgage documents, utility bill in your name, credit card bill, bank statement, phone bill, pay stub, or any official Government mail, etc.
Canadian Residency Proof
Example: Canadian Birth Certificate, valid Canadian Passport, valid Secure Indian Status Card, Citizenship/Permanent Resident Card, valid Work/Study/Visitor permit, etc.
You will leave the office with a temporary licence good for one month and your permanent licence will be sent to you by mail in approximately 10 business days.
